Recognizing bites (and why they aren’t proof alone)
Bed bug bites often appear as small, red, itchy bumps, frequently in a line or cluster on skin that was exposed while sleeping — such as the arms, shoulders, neck, or legs. Reactions vary, and some people show no marks at all.
Because people react so differently, bites are not reliable proof on their own. Some develop raised, itchy welts; others have little or no visible reaction even in the same bed. A common pattern is several bites in a row or a small group that appear overnight. Bites can also be confused with those from other insects, which is why it helps to look for physical signs of bed bugs too.
