What to Do After an E-Scooter Accident
A few steps after a scooter crash protect your health and your claim — including app records that disappear fast. Here is a simple checklist.
Get medical care
See a doctor right away, even if you feel okay. Some injuries appear later, and a record connects them to the crash.
Save the app and scooter details
If you were on a shared scooter, screenshot your ride — the scooter ID, time, and route — and note the ID number on the device. Report the crash through the app.
Document the scene and any hazard
Photograph the scooter, the scene, any pothole or hazard, and your injuries. If a driver was involved, get their information.
Get witnesses
Get names and numbers for any witnesses and any driver involved, while they can still be found.
Be careful what you sign
Be cautious about recorded statements or signing anything from the scooter company before you have advice — a waiver does not always stop a claim.
The deadlines and rules depend on your state
The steps above apply wherever you were hurt. Filing deadlines, fault rules, and limits on damages differ by state — pick yours for what applies to e scooter accidents.
Not sure where you stand?
A quick, confidential review can tell you — about two minutes, no cost, no obligation.
